Digital platform
Laurina Gombs is behind this event. Born in the Paris region, she grew up between Saint-Martin and Martinique. You studied communication and marketing in Bordeaux. After her Irma, she returns to settle in Saint-Martin. Today she lives in Guadeloupe where she is a digital marketing trainer. “The Caribbean business afterwork aims to bring together diverse people from the Caribbean business community to open the door for everyone to network,” explains Laurina Gombs. Sixteen people were shot on Friendly Island. There was a hairdresser, salesmen, data analyst… around the table. The evening began with the presentation of Caribbean Hustlers, Laurina Gombs’ digital platform which aims to support entrepreneurs through coaching, marketing strategy and networking events or masterclasses. The guests were then able to get to know each other through the games offered by Hugo Romero, ambassador of the event.
“In Saint-Martin the problem remains proximity. We tend to recommend those around us, families or friends. I wanted us to go beyond this border to help each other through the development of projects throughout the Caribbean,” adds Laurina Gombs. During the previous editions several people had been able to find clients, collaborations, interns or trainees, she confides. “Caribbean commercial after-workers answer a professional question.”
2021-22, a trial year
After testing the waters, Laurina Gombs is convinced of her project. In 2023, she therefore aims to create more virtual and physical networking events. “I want to deliver after-work with more open venues and relevant speakers,” she continues. The website will also be finalised, if possible, next April. “Professionals will be able to register and offer their masterclasses or events in the Caribbean basin”. Between 2021 and 2022, Laurina Gombs granted free access to the platform and events to the interested public. In 2023, Caribbean Hustlers aims to be paid, with a free trial period.
