Lens presents itself as one of the pioneers in decentralized social networks. Admittedly, the platform has struggled since Polygon’s experience a bug in October 2022, but apparently everything is back to normal.

Yesterday, The block brought back a great revolution brought by Lens in Web3. This materialized with the launch of a feature called “Token-gated Publications” and based on the LIT protocol. Its peculiarity lies in the fact that Lens users can specify access conditions when creating a new publication. They notably include holding NFTs or an ERC20 token.
In other words, Lens will authorize its users to post protected content on its platform.
Who is this content aimed at?
” When you create a new restricted access post, users can now specify access conditions “, it was specified in the official documents shared by Lens.
” The decryption of the content of the publication and the media is reserved for the following people:
- followers;
- other users who have already collected previous publications;
- users with an NFT from a specific collection or with a TokenID
- those with a specific Lens profile or EOA address;
- users with ERC20 tokens;
- etc.
All in all, the SocialFi, a concept we developed in June 2022, is starting to take shape with this new Lens feature. Some will probably wonder what kind of content will make people fork over cryptocurrency or NFTs? Creative publications, among others, will be among the new offerings hitting home in the Web3 era.
