INFOGRAPHIC. According to data from the 2022 edition of Parcoursup, it is not surprising that having good grades throughout the year allows you to get more offers of admission, especially from selective courses.
Who has never heard that in order to get a place in higher education of their choice, it is best to have it the best file ? Well, hold on tight, that’s right! It is not by chance that the statistical data of the Parcoursup 2022 session, published by SIES, the sub-directorate for information systems and statistical studies of the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, demonstrate this.
These data highlight the share of baccalauréat holders who have received at least an offer of admission to certain courses (BTS, BUT, three-year degrees, CPGE, engineering schools, etc.), depending on the grade obtained. It turns out thathaving good grades throughout the year as well as in the final baccalaureate exams positively affects your chances of obtaining admission proposals on Parcoursup.
To put it simply: whoever says mention, says admission proposal. And the better your mention, the better your chances of getting proposals.
In the general path, the mention opens the way to the preparatory class
If you are passing a general baccalaureate and intend to enroll in a CPGE (preparatory class for the Grandes Ecoles), a level worthy of the mention “very good” greatly increases your chances of receiving a proposal: according to SIES data, 53.9% of baccalaureate holders with this mention were accepted in preparation. Even better with the mention “excellent with the compliments of the jury” (ie more than 18 on average): 75.7%!
On the contrary, students without honors are only 1.7% to have received a proposal in this training.
Engineering schools also like students with a “very good” level. since nearly a quarter of these baccalaureate holders received an admission offer. Not to mention, less than 2% have received one. And if the differences also exist at university, they are much less marked than in selective training.
MA, DE and engineering schools recruit technology baccalaureate holders with a good record
In the technological path, the practice also affects your chances of obtaining admission proposals on Parcoursup. Depending on the series of your baccalaureate, this is heard in different training courses.
For instance, eight out of ten STMG diploma holders who received a “very good” mention also received greetings in GOAL (technology degree), compared to 18% of students who had no mention.
After an ST2S baccalaureate, baccalaureate holders often turn to state diplomas in the health and social sector (especially the DE Nursing). According to SIES data, Just over 75% of baccalaureate holders in this series with “very good” mention were offered admission compared with 29.5% of students with no mention.
Another example with the access of STI2D graduates to engineering schools: 58.5% of those who obtained a “very good” mention received an admission proposal on Parcoursup against 2.4% of graduates without mention.
The importance of less marked grades for continuing studies after a professional baccalaureate
According to SIES statistics, the influence of the file on the the proposals for admission of higher education institutions are less obvious in the professional sector. The distribution of mentions is observed only slightly among the candidates admitted to BTSa path in great demand by holders of a professional baccalaureate who wish to continue their studies.
In fact, 85% of those who got a “very good” mention received a proposal for admission to BTS on Parcoursup compared to 75% of those who did not receive a mention.
Whether or not it affects your chances of being accepted into a higher education course, praise is important because it can too give right to AIDSor some scholarships of merit. But beware, most of the time these financial incentives are reserved for holders of a “very good” mention.
