HAS Saint-Sauveur-des-Landes, Saint-Rémy-du-Plain, Bazouges-la-Perouse, protests have been expressed in recent months against wind projects implemented by the major operators (Boralex, Voltalia, etc.).
More recently, local elected officials have spoken out to encourage citizen initiatives to find sustainable energy.
This is the case with Patrick Manceau, president of the agglomeration of Fougèreswhich he mentioned the creation of a small city wind farm on the occasion of his will.
A “third way”
A project welcomed with a smile by those who want to defend it “a third way”, between the firm opposition to wind energy and the control placed on this energy by the large industrial groups.
“We are currently around thirty people, many of whom have some experience in the field of renewables,” explains Dominique Bernier.
These inhabitants of the Pays de Fougères participated in it Cigales club (solidarity savings for the social economy)has a city club for investment in renewable energies (CIERC)to the association Twenty citizens (semi-city wind farm in Saint-Hilaire-du-Maine, in Mayenne)the creation of the first city energy park in Béganne, near Redonfrom 2013 to 2014.
“A project that has removed many locks” appreciates Pierre Berhault.

“It is not a product like any other”
First observation for members of this group:
Energy shouldn’t be a commodity like any other. It is a common good. We want to weigh in to find other solutions and not put everything in the hands of international groups.
They often find it local elected officials are appalled“deceived by the merchants”.
“We want to remain independent of the Fougères agglomeration, but we want to support intelligently elected officials. Those elected must understand that citizens can invest in these projects, with the living forces of the territory. »
Group members also regret the sometimes virulent reactions of the opponents of wind energy.
“We understand them when the information from the big operators is badly made, or oriented, and they discover that a project is about to be born near their home. We are not against the naysayers, we are against the Do something ” continues Dominique Bernier.
Not just wind energy
Likewise, the group wants to think all forms of renewable energy.
Wind energy occupies much of the debate, but methanation and photovoltaic avenues need to be explored.
“We are not wind farms” assures Pierre Berhault.
Jean-Yves Erabit adds: “We want to support all actions that provide an alternative. Actions that give power to citizens, to energy consumers themselves and who are becoming increasingly aware of their role”. A desire, summarizes Dominique Bernier, to promote “recyclable, renewable, reasonable citizens’ energy”.
