After five pushes, the singer finally sees the light at the end of the tunnel: she will finally climb the stage at Gesù in Montreal on Thursday evening to present her first solo show. sing to speak.
“I am interested in this show. “I could not imagine myself one day stopping my career without singing on the stage of the city where I grew up,” she said.
At the end of the line, Shirley Théroux is feverish. You can feel it in his voice, in his speech. Because she had long feared she had to put a cross on this expensive project.
“I was even ready to cry. I would be very disappointed; I think he should have taken me with a spoon. But I would not be bitter. I no longer allow myself to be touched by the negatives, by what is ugly and unpleasant. I want to laugh, be happy and move on. “I do not have time for others”, she says with all the confidence we know about her.
A matter of attitude
It is precisely this attitude that has enabled him to spend the last two years. Because the isolation was heavy on her heart as a mother and grandmother. They even stole his creativity for a few months.
“I could sit at the piano, or even in my studio to paint, and I was not able to create. It was total emptiness. But the hardest thing was to see my son come and bring me food during the first block and I could not hug him. Same for my grandchildren. “That, being deprived of human contact and love, was horrible,” she says.
“I’m a singer”
Some will find it hard to believe that Shirley Théroux has never had the opportunity to step on metropolitan scenes as part of a solo show. It must be said that she quickly turned to television, a medium that monopolized her for most of her career.
