Teased during the announcement of the strategic plan SKY25, the SKEMA school of law is emerging from the ground. Named SKEMA Law School for Business, it will be founded in Brazil. Its goal? Teaching the basics of law in connection with the notions of management and finance.
From a project, SKEMA Law School for Business has become a reality. This law school has opened its doors on the Brazilian campus of SKEMA, a Belo Horizonte, at the end of October 2022. The inauguration was carried out with Alice Guilhon, director of the institute, Geneviève Poulingue, principal of the Brazilian campus of the school, Edgar Jacobs, coordinator of the law lessons, Judge José Artur Carvalho Perira (president of Minas Court of Justice of the State of Gerais) and Gabriel di Blasi. He is an intellectual property attorney.
The SKEMA Law School for Business project is therefore led in particular by Geneviève Poulingue indicating that ” focuses on developing skills and competences in our students that go beyond the basics of law, emphasizing innovation in curricula and teaching practice. Our intention is to train professionals prepared to work in the global and digital context, with particular attention to people, diversity and ethics. “

The contours of the SKEMA Law School for Business
SKEMA Law School for Business aims to be transdisciplinary. Indeed, it will familiarize its students with law, integrating the dimensions of finance, business, technology and management. It is also in line with SKEMA’s desire to open entities on subjects other than management sciences, such as its school of artificial intelligence or his school of geopolitics.
Edgar Jacobs specifies that SKEMA Law School for Business trains legal professionals specializing in finance and technology. ” The strength of SKEMA Law for Business is to offer students radically different perspectives of professional integration, at the interface between law and new technologies that until now they did not have. Because SKEMA Law School for Business can combine traditional legal training with all areas of business school expertise: international and multiculturalism, management, ethics, new technologies, artificial intelligence, etc. “
Therefore, SKEMA Law School for Business students will be able to train in one of these programs:
- Degree (in 5 years) in business administration. This program is recognized by the state and trains specialists in judicial law, technological law and commercial law.
- Master SKEMA is opening 4 master’s degree courses on different subjects related to law: digital law, judicial law and technologies, start-up law, AI, blockchain.
- SKEMA is also opening a nano degree open to the general public, online, on the topic of “law and artificial intelligence”.
