Automaker Stellantis registered 2.05 million new cars in Europe in 2022 (–13.7%), according to ACEA data. For his second full year, he conceded 2 points in market share. The group, for its part, evokes “very good results”.

According to data provided by ACEA, the group led by Carlos Tavares registered 2,052,543 new cars in Europe in 2022, recording a decrease of 14.1% compared to 2021 (2.37 million units). The European car market decreased by 4.1% to 11.28 million units*. Born two years ago from the merger of PSA and FCA, the group recorded a market share of 18.2% last year, compared to 20.2% in 2021. Stellantis thus saw its penetration decrease by 2 points in one year. No other manufacturer has lost as much in 2022 on the European car market.
ACEA data reveals that general (mainstream) brands took a big hit last year, mostly posting double-digit declines. Peugeot (5.5% share) lost 0.7 points of market share, while Fiat (3.5%) and Citroën (3.3%) lost 0.5 points. DS premium brands (+17.1%) e Alfa Romeo (+23.7%), on the other hand recorded volumes on the rise in 2022.

The Peugeot 208, the best-selling car in Europe in 2022
Among the reasons for satisfaction given, the group is particularly satisfied with the first place Peugeot 208 in Europe, with almost 220,000 units registered in 2022 (it was second in 2021, behind the Golf, according to Jato data). Stellantis places four models in the European top 10: Peugeot 208 (1um),Fiat 500 (6And), Opel/Opel Corsa (7And) and Citroën C3 (8And). The manufacturer claims the top position in France, Italy, Spain and Portugal in the PC + LCV markets. With a market share of 30.6% in the light commercial vehicle segment, it is also ranked first in Europe.
Finally, Stellantis gains a 15.7% share in 2022 (+1.7 points) in the low-emission vehicle market, with notably a leading position in France, Italy, Spain and Portugal.
